You can easily get from St Petersburg to Moscow and back on any of plenty trains operating between two capitals. It's very convenient to board at night and arrive the next morning for a full day of excursions. Notice that in both cities there are several train stations, you have to be sure the station you are departing from is the right one. In St Petersburg, trains for Moscow leave from the Moskovsky Vokzal (the Moscow station). In Moscow, trains for St Petersburg leave from the Leningradsky Vokzal (the Leningrad station).

First class has two berths to a compartment and second class has four. Very often it is a problem for foreigners to buy train or plane tickets directly from local stations. Tickets are usually booked through travel agencies.

Car description

Sleeping car (1st class)
Each compartment is equipped with a soft sofa, a soft sleeping shelf (can be put away), a washstand with cold and hot water, a bar with lighting and shelves. Two middle compartments also have a common shower-cabin and supplementary armchairs. Moreover the passenger space, in the car there are 2 washing-rooms with cold and hot water, a staff compartment and a service compartment. A refrigerator for food and drinks store is intended in the staff compartment. Guards-stewards will be at yours service all day and night.

Sleeping car (2nd class)
